F.A.CUP 2nd Round

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6556)

Congratulations to WIGAN ATHLETIC on winning at York last night ,a hard fought win against a gritty York side under bad conditions , So now into the 3rd round and the hope of a draw with the"" BIG GUNS " As for the match i thought we got off a bit slow then has it went on it was justa matter of time before they scored . Also i would like to say well done they are steadily climbing up the table ,after being treated unfairly by the E.F.L. just keep going lads bravo .

Gb, watched it last night, to be honest, i think york were the better team, very foggy over in yorkshire but latics got the win so good luck, hope they get a prem side at home so i can go while its local, one of the big guns would be nice.

FA Cup draw: Latics v United, a chance for the bloke who "used to have a season ticket" and "lives five minutes from the ground" but stopped going after the initial glory dropped off to go and boo the mighty reds

Why hello Roylew , That's a belter you have posed for me and well here goes i will try and deliver my honest decision to you.
First having been taken to O/T at around the age of 9/10 years young by my very best mate (MY DAD) to see those young MAN.UTD Babes was truly out of this world ,but at the time i didn't realise that , but i guess the seed was planted in football ,which i played at school & claim to fame represente the then WIGAN TOWN SCHOOLBOY TEAM.
Secondly Also my mate who was an ardent WIGAN R.L. fan ,being brought up with the like of JIM SULLIVAN/JOHNNY RING / o could go on,on you get my my drift ,so around 1958 my cousin Bill Brtherton played at Wembley for WIGANR.L , 58ish i think twas then i also became a RUGBY LEAGUE FAN,
So now it's come down to the nitty gritty time and to answer your question ................. Which is being born and bred in WIGAN MY COLOURS WILL BE FOR WIGAN ATHLETIC ON THAT DAY !!!PHEWWWW THAT WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST QUESTIONS I HAVE EVER BEEN ASKED , SO ROY
I HOPE YOU LIKE MY RESPONSE THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS THEY TRULY DO MAKE ME PROUD .

Well said GB…I’m mainly a rugby supporter but used to watch Latics in their non league days and their league days upto 1985ish…I remember them beating Jack Charltons Sheffield Wednesday…also one snowy night mid 60’s against Tranmere…a fairy tale club in the FA Cup…can it happen again..just ask the City supporters

Hi Roylew,
Just to add that final against Man Cty i took both my grandsons to that final i had one up here at the Boars Head and the other was down Essex so we stayed down my daughters in Essex thenravelled across both young lads really had a fantastic time we were level with the goal lins at the side and had a perfect view when the ball went in ,after that it was pandemonium great day never to be forgotten ,What with WIGAN WARRIORS winning the Challenge Cup & WIGAN ATHLETIC winning the F.A.Cup in 2013, I don't think that will ever be copied again in my lifetime .
